Summer. At last, going outdoors and enjoying the nature! The warm sun temptingly caresses our skin and we long to enjoy every moment. But we should remember to protect our skin. STENDERS Gentle Sun SPF 16 and SPF 30 sunscreen balms protect the skin from UV rays and accidental sunburn. The balm instantly penetrates the skin and is waterproof and is free from parabens, allergens and dyes, for a careless summer enjoyment.
The precious sea buckthorn oil softens the skin, aloe extract soothes it, the gentle beeswax forms a protective layer and cocoa butter protects the skin against premature aging.
Sun protection factor indicates the period of time one can stay in the sun without getting a sunburn. Without any sunscreen the redness appears after 12 minutes, meanwhile, for example, with SPF 16 sunscreen that period is 16 times loger – 192 minutes.
If you want to have a safe tan, the sunscreen with SPF 16 is reccomended. If you aim only for skin protection and don’t care about the tan, you can choose the sunscreen with SPF 30, which provides one with more effective protection.

Aurora – the rare natural phenomenon

Spring in Latvia is coming with a sudden increase of 10 degrees during the last 2 days, but it’s not the only thing Mother Nature has delighted us with. In the evening of March 11th a beautiful and rare natural phenomenon appeared also in some places in Latvia. Nothern ligts – aurora – don’t usually occure in our country, therefore we find it a significant event.
Just as people in London are excited when a thick layer of snow appears on the streets of the city, we enjoy the infrequent appearance of these magical nothern lights. Take a look at the marvelous games of light covering the stars and illuminating the water surface.

Greetings from Stenders to Kriv Stenders

We have found (as we in Latvia would say ) our name-brother – very interesting and original director in a totally different continent. Kriv Stenders.

He is one of Australia’s most renowned and respected film directors with numerous critically acclaimed and award winning shorts, documentaries, music videos, television commercials and feature films to his credit.
And last year his latest feature “Red Dog” released in August 2011 was awarded BEST FILM at 2012 AACTA Awards, making it the eighth highest grossing Australian film of all time.

20,000 STENDERS Butterflies of Feelings have started their journey across the globe

Despite the cold outside temperatures, STENDERS butterflies have genuinely perked up. 20,000 red Valentine Day’s butterflies have left STENDERS office for the whole world, to cheer you up during the Love Celebration and quietly whisper in your ear that spring has almost arrived here. The mischievous butterflies dressed in red skirts have been attracted by the glamorous glitter of pomegranate in the new Gold line products. Do you fancy to catch one? The first STENDERS shop window delights Riga citizens in the shopping gallery Centrs

One of our key objectives of this year is to reach visual recognition of the new concept and to carry out active communication.

This week, we have faced an outstanding event – we have launched the first STENDERS shop window to delight Riga citizens and guests in the shopping gallery Centrs. It has been the first project of such scale in our history with the shopping gallery Centrs. Our biggest thanks to designers, the shop’s team and all others who took part in this activity!

Hereby follow a few snapshots from the shop window:

Our driver Māris and splinters. Māris went to Garkalne quarry to pick up splinters, and then splinters were washed, fondled, dried and smartened up.

The snapshot of the bench. A competition looking for the best bench was organised and Solvita’s park-kitchen bench won in a tight count. The bench was also smartened up resulting in a very special moment for the bench – earlier, its daily routine was to serve as a dish dryer in Solvita’s kitchen and now it is showcased in the most beautiful Riga’s shop window making admirers’ eyes wide open! What is the future career of the bench?

The story of the lonely bicycle. Ilona benefitted from the Marketing department’s privileged position and submitted her bicycle as the only genuine contender. With fartherly care, Raivis tuned it up and coloured it in STENDERS purple shade. All the three – the bicycle, Ilona and Raivis experienced an immense joy!

The story about the green felt composition is a story about persistence and care of our Cinderellas – Aļona and Puķe. 2,300 green felt squares, sized 10×10, were glued onto the huge banner symbolising a green plant touching a concrete wall. Someday Prince will definitely come.

Making the shop window’s background. After countless working hours, the shop window’s background and the banner were launched today, with green plants and flowers blossoming vigorously and joyfully against it, to stress intelligent attraction of organic products. In spite of frost and Northern nature’s cold.

STENDERS Estonian team’s success in Tallinn

Our Estonian team in the biggest Tallinn shopping centre Viru Keskus has won the honourable 2nd place in the competition “The 2011 Best Store 2011″ which is an admirable achievement in the competition with so many stores.

In a telephone conversation, Dmitrijs explained that the competition was immense and the competition rules were very strict and complex.

To win the first place, they lacked mere 5 points – each sales assistant had to pass an exam and one of them was slightly unlucky as she gained 95 points out of the maximum total 100 points, a rating that according to Dmitrijs, was a very good mark for completing the complicated tasks. Dmitrijs is very proud of his team and is particularly happy and touched for the appreciation that they have received. Our sincere congratulations to the Estonian team and we wish many great victories for this year as well!

New STENDERS shop in Krasnodar, Russia

Congratulations! Our shop chain in Russia has become by one shop richer! The new shop is already open and welcomes everyone in Krasnodar City’s shopping centre ”Krasnaya Ploshchad”. In Russia, it is already the seventy-first shop of our collaboration partners.

“Krasnodar is a beautiful city on the Kuban River in Southern Russia; there are 786,000 inhabitants in the city therefore we see great opportunities for our shop there. I am very happy about the new identity of STENDERS shops. People do not say “let’s get some soap” anymore – they say “let’s go to STENDERS!” This proves that the company’s newly implemented concept is successful and perspective. I am proud that the average sum of purchase in my shops varies from EUR 120 to 240. At first buyers usually purchase presents, but then they return to buy also something for their every-day usage,” as told by the owner of the shop – Alexander Maksimchuk who owns STENDERS shops also in Stavropol and Rostov-on-Don.

STENDERS Christmas time

A recent phone call at the STENDERS head office: „Good morning, can I speak to the marketing director, please?”

After a short hesitation a quiet, yet steady voice responded: „I don’t know anything here, I’m just an elf, wrapping gifts.”

What’s going on? Are elves taking over our headquarters during the holiday season?

Our marketing director Talivaldis Silenieks helped out with an explanation: „In Christmas time our shops are always very busy, but this year it’s really going wild. Everyone wants to delight their relatives and friends with nicely wrapped, scented presents. We can’t manage on our own, so every year in the holiday season we hire more help, and over time we’ve nicknamed these helpful people – ‘elves’. Our elves are very hardworking, smart and joyful. And, apparently, sometimes they play pranks.”
